The December table of contents rounds off the year for BMC Biology, and showcases our latest Research and front-matter content, including from our ongoing special interest collections.

Research articles cover how tolerance to extreme temperatures can be predicted by transcriptome resilience; a new density-sensing factor defining thresholds for Dictyostelium development and multi-cell aggregation; and multi-species and multi-assay genome annotation in domesticated animals.
